  • Eating disorder industry has a difficult 2024

  • Are subjective beliefs the missing link?

  • Lighting Step interviews their new CIO, Martin Ignatovski

1. Jackson House Acquires Cameron Care

In a strategic move to elevate mental health residential services and enhance their impact, Jackson House has acquired Cameron Care, creating a dynamic alliance in the mental health residential sector.

The acquisition brings together two providers who share a commitment to advancing mental health care in our community, delivering innovative solutions, and improving accessibility for individuals seeking support.

Under conditions of the deal, Jackson House will acquire a majority interest in Cameron Care, Inc. with owner Corey Cameron continuing as Executive Director of the 39-bed residential treatment provider. The new entity is called Cameron Care, LLC.

2. Eating Disorder Industry Will Grapple With Higher-Acuity Cases, AI, Ozempic-Related Challenges in 2024

I thought this was a fascinating article, written by Morgan Gonzales.

In the article, Morgan argues that the eating disorder industry will face a number of challenges over the next year.

The challenges will include …

  • more acute cases, as eating disorders are becoming increasingly more common and more dangerous in western societies.

  • disruption from telehealth centers that provide the entire continuum of case, such as Equip.

  • A.I. will solve problems, and create new problem in the process.

In addition, Ozempic, the new weight loss drug, could create eating disorder problems on it’s own. Ironically, the pill could also solve many of the obesity problems that the country struggles with.

3. Get More Qualified Addiction Treatment Leads On Autopilot.

  1. Get More Traffic – Generate more traffic to your website and your brand!

  2. More Leads and Phone Calls – Effective digital marketing is one of the best ways to make the phone ring!

  3. Increase Your Census – High value phone calls lead to more admissions!

You’ll hear a lot of other agencies make promises to you and use certain buzz words like “reach”, or “brand”, or “UX.” Not us … we only care about two things. Traffic and phone calls. You won’t find another agency in this space as dedicated to driving phone calls as us. That’s why we’ve been in business since 2010, and why we are still the highest rated agency in the behavioral health space.

4. Are Subjective Beliefs the Missing Link in Treatment Effectiveness Studies?

In the world of medical science, the efficacy of treatments like neurostimulation, neurofeedback, brain training, and pharmacotherapy is often measured by comparing the outcomes of active treatments against placebos.

However, the new and innovative work of Luisa Fassi and her colleagues introduces a critical variable often neglected in such studies: the patient’s subjective beliefs and experiences.

Their analysis of four independent datasets involving 387 participants, including both clinical patients and healthy adults, reveals that an individual’s subjective beliefs about receiving active or placebo treatment can significantly influence the outcome of the treatment, often more so than the treatment itself.
