Hey there. Tim here.

This is issue #8 of The Census, a weekly newsletter to help you succeed in the behavioral healthcare industry. This week …

  • Behavioral health conference announces winners

  • Pediatric patients with mental disorders are clogging up ERs

  • Changes for Anthem, BCBS, and Aetna

1. Landmark Recovery Opens 192 Bed Medicaid Facility in Westerville Ohio

Landmark Recovery has announced the opening of its new facility, Praxis of Columbus by Landmark Recovery, located at 690 Cooper Road, Westerville. The facility opened its doors on Oct. 13, 2023, and is now accepting patients insured through Medicaid.

It was only a few months ago that Landmark Recovery came under immense scrutiny, due to the fact that three patients died in their facility between July 3rd and July 9th.

None the less, the expansion continues and Landmark clearly sees an opportunity to serve the Medicaid population.

2. Behavioral Health Tech Conference Announces Winners of Inaugural Young Innovators in Behavioral Health Awards Program

  • 30 winners recognized for their contributions to access, awareness, and advancement of digital mental health care for young people in the U.S.

  • Awards program created in partnership with Hopelab and Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, among others

  • Winners will be celebrated at the Behavioral Health Tech Conference in November

The Behavioral Health Tech Conference, the largest conference focused on expanding access to mental health and substance use services through technology and innovation, today announced the winners of its inaugural awards program, the Young Innovators in Behavioral Health Awards.

3. Get More Qualified Addiction Treatment Leads On Autopilot.

  1. Get More Traffic – Generate more traffic to your website and your brand!

  2. More Leads and Phone Calls – Effective digital marketing is one of the best ways to make the phone ring!

  3. Increase Your Census – High value phone calls lead to more admissions!

You’ll hear a lot of other agencies make promises to you and use certain buzz words like “reach”, or “brand”, or “UX.” Not us … we only care about two things. Traffic and phone calls. You won’t find another agency in this space as dedicated to driving phone calls as us. That’s why we’ve been in business since 2010, and why we are still the highest rated agency in the behavioral health space.

4. Pediatric Patients with Mental Health Disorders Account for Over 1 Million ER Visits a Year

Over a million emergency room (ER) visits are attributed annually to children and adolescents with a mental health disorder diagnosis.

That’s according to a new study by the CDC, which builds on previous research demonstrating the worsening mental health crisis among children and adolescents.

The emergency department has become the first response for immediate mental health needs for many children and adolescents, the study’s authors pointed out, due to the decreasing number of psychiatric care facilities nationwide and the inaccessibility of outpatient services.

5. Aetna, Anthem, & BCBS Payor Changes

There have been several significant network changes with certain insurance companies which affect various aspects of patient care and insurance coverage.

This week, Erin Burke, CEO and founder of Hansei Solutions, gave a presentation within Recovery Owners Community to discuss the changes and gives insight on how it will affect your receivables.

That’s it for this week.

Soon, we’ll be launching podcast episodes and even more resources to help you succeed in behavioral health.

Thanks. Talk to you next week.
